The Incas used this route for the pilgrimage to the sacred citadel Machu Picchu. we spend ample time discovering these spectacular remains before returning to Cusco by train and,Rainbow Mountain or vinicunca also called in Quechua is one of the attractions that cannot be missed in the Cusco- Peru. On this hike you will visit the beautiful 7 Color Mountain with its colorful slopes and be amazed by the stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains. you will be accompanied by our native guide who speaks English,Spanish and Quechua.
This trek Rainbow mountain full Day is designed for those travelers with little time in Cusco who want to be in contact with the magnificent nature of Peru. Our guide will explain what makes up the exciting existence of the Rainbow Mountain. There is also an option if feel tired or bad you can do it on horseback.
First day, starts early, we pick you up from your hotel at 3:00 am to drive to the train station located in Ollantaytambo town. During the 2 hours path we cross through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. A very famous Valle due it is the leading producer of vegetables, besides to host imposing Inca palaces and buildings,until arrive Ollantaytambo town where we will board the train for 1 hour and 20 minutes to get km104 where adventure starts. After we show the required permissions (entries to Inca Trail and Machupicchu, file`s porters) by tour leader and your original passports we beging hiking. The 3 first hours you will uphill where youwill observe the classic andean landscape of varied flora and fauna until arrive the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna, place where we will have a briefing about the complex role during the Inca`s time for around 1 hour, also we will have lunch and then we will continue hiking 2 hours until to arrive to the sungate, after seeing Machupicchu for about 1 hour we will descend and surround Machupicchu. After arriving to Machupicchu`s checkpoint we will board the bus toward Aguas calientes where we will spend the night. (16:0. pm).
This day will be for sure the most fascinating for you, because you will see Machupicchu in all its glory from dawn. We get up at 5:00 am and after our breakfast we will go to the bus station for boarding the first bus that leaving at 5:30 am to be in Machupicchu at 6:00 am. Inside Machupicchu we will have 2 hours guided tour where you will visit the most remarkable places such as: el torreón semicircular, el templo de las tres ventanas, el intihuatana, el templo del cóndor, la sala de los morteros y el baño del inca. Then you will have free time to explore Machupicchu by your own or descend to Aguas calientes (Lunch in not included). In the afternoon you will board the train from Aguas calientes to Ollantaytambo, place from where you will be transported by touristic bus to Cusco. Estimated arrival to Cusco (20:00 pm).
We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 am to be transported for 1:30 hours until arriving to the town of cusipata we will have breakfast where we can buy sodas, energizantes, chocolates, cookies, etc. We will continue 1:30 more minutes by car until arriving to the village of Chillihuani where and also place where we will start hiking, we will hike uphill for 1:40 hours , throuhout the walk we will appreciate the Alpacas and llamas until arriving to the summit of the Vinincunca Mountain best known as Rainbow Mountain located at 5000.m.a.s.l. Once in the summit we will have a guided tour, time to meditate . we will descend for 1;20 to villge chillihuani where we will catch our car to lunch 1:30 hours until arriving to the village of Cusipata lunch place again, where we will catch the car that will transport us back to Cusco where we will be at 4:00 pm.
