Machu Picchu with Hot Springs: 2 Days. Your trip to Machu Picchu will be unforgettable. You’ll thoroughly enjoy the scenery and the valley below. It’s a tour that doesn’t involve much walking in the Machu Picchu llaqta. You’ll explore one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: the citadel of Machu Picchu! It’s a relaxing tour, a super-calm tour for families with children or older adults once you marvel at this great masterpiece of historical architecture. Machu Picchu is one of the wonders of the modern world, translated into Quechua. It has very interesting sites such as temples and plazas, and you can also enjoy the hot springs in the village of Aguas Calientes. Machu Picchu is located in Peru, Cusco, Urubamba.
After breakfast, we will depart from our Cusco hotel to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station, depending on availability. At the scheduled time, we will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. During the journey, enjoy the views of the Urubamba Valley. We will arrive around 12:00 p.m. and then head to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch. Afterward, you will have free time to settle into your designated hotel and then head to the hot springs.
Today’s Highlights: Today we’ll arrive at one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Machu Picchu! We’ll wake up early after a refreshing night at our hostel to beat the crowds to the top of Machu Picchu and enjoy its serenity in the soft morning light. The entrance to Machu Picchu is open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Here we’ll take a 2-hour guided tour of this incredible ancient city. Marvel at the engineering ingenuity of the Incas, so ahead of their time and still a mystery today! With no modern tools or steel or iron to work with, those who built this city were ingenious in organizing this community sustainably and beautifully on the side of a mountain, even channeling water through its streets for people to drink. When a Peruvian guide showed this site to Hiram Bingham,It was almost unrecognizable, overgrown with vegetation and in poor condition. It has since been cleaned and restored, and is now a protected world treasure. After this tour, you will be free to hike Huayna Picchu (the mountaintop we see in all the Machu Picchu photos; 2720 masl/8890 fsl) or Machu Picchu Mountain (be sure to book in advance to get your tickets!). The hike to Huayna Picchu takes 50 minutes one way and 50 minutes back. The climb up and down Machu Picchu Mountain takes approximately 3 hours, before returning to Aguas Calientes. If you come down early, you will be able to have lunch (not included, but can be added to the package). We will board our train at 4:22 pm (subject to availability) to Ollantaytambo. A private bus will pick up our group and drop them off at your hotel in Cusco at approximately 8:00 pm.
