The Classic Choquequirao trek with cabins and huts 5 Days Locals refer to Choquequirao as the sister of Machu Picchu, and a 5-day hike is easier. This hike is very interesting and can only be reached on foot. It’s a bit arduous, but well worth it. Choquequirao ranked first on the Best in Travel list in the “Regions” category, one of the most prestigious rankings of destinations recommended by international travel experts. In this list, Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide, invites you to imagine Choquequirao in Peru as a place that offers the chance to become an explorer: “In the Inca citadel, you can sit alone and appreciate the mountains, admire the path of the Apurímac River from above, or watch the condors fly.”
This day the meeting point in the city of Cusco for group service is at the small square called Regocijo, which is next to the main square, at 6:30 a.m. Our transport will take us for approximately 4 and a half hours to Capuliyoc, where the start of the hike is located. If we leave from Abancay the meeting point is coordinated internally at approximately 9 am and then we head to the Cachora district where we meet the people coming from Cusco.
After that we will continue by car for 30 more minutes to Cachora, Capuliyoc, where we can enjoy our lunch with a view of the Apurimac Canyon and the Padreyoc snow-capped mountain. Then we will begin our adventure, we will begin to descend for approximately 3 hours, passing by the Cocamasana viewpoints to Chikiska, where we will have our dinner and spend the night there in a rural lodging that has rooms with double beds
We will start the day early, after breakfast we will continue descending for 1 hour to the Apurimac River, a place called Playa Rosalina, crossing the river we will begin to climb towards Santa Rosa for approximately 1 hour and a half to 2. This part requires strong physical effort and it is about climbing even with shade. After a short break we will continue climbing for another hour and a half to 2 hours to the village of Marampata where we will have lunch and the afternoon free to rest after having climbed 1500 meters in altitude in 3 or 4 hours. In the evening we will have dinner and spend the night there.
This day we will visit Choquequirao, after breakfast we will head towards the place, we will visit all its main places, the muleteer will bring us lunch to Choquequirao itself in the afternoon we will return to Marampata and then we will continue down to Santa Rosa, dinner and overnight.
We start the day early after a cooler we begin to descend for 1 hour and a half approximately to the Apurimac River, 1 hour to Chikiska where we will have a short break for breakfast and then continue the ascent for 3 and a half to 4 hours to Capuliyoc, arriving at the place for our Lunch, rest in the afternoon. This day we start to leave early to avoid the sun by the Apurimac River since this part receives the rays of the sun very early and walking under it is very tiring. Arriving at the camp we have a small campfire and spend our last night in the mountain cabins overlooking the Apurimac canyon and the Padreyoc snow-capped mountain, a magical night.
This day is a relaxing one. We will wake up a little later and after breakfast we will be able toenjoy the comforts of our exclusive camp with a swimming pool, swings and views of the canyon and the central mountain range of Vilcabamba. On this last day you can visit the thermal medicinal waters of Cconoc. This visit is coordinated with the group and is added a difference to the driver. (this visit is not included, it is optional). Lunch on this day is a la carte dishes to suit the client for an extra cost of between 10, 15 or 20 soles. Highest level of the hike 3000 masl. Lowest level of the hike 1500 masl.
