This Humantay Lake 2 Day Trek is ideal for travelers seeking a memorable Andean experience without the commitment of a longer trek. Discover the sacred mountains of Peru, the turquoise lakes, and the vibrant culture all in just two days.
Your adventure begins with an early 5:00 a.m. hotel pickup in Cusco. We drive approximately 2 hours to Mollepata, where you enjoy a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant. We then continue for about 1 more hour to Challacancha, the official starting point of the trek.
Today’s hike is easy to moderate, mostly along gently rolling terrain, allowing for gradual acclimatization to the high-altitude environment. Along the trail, you’ll be surrounded by spectacular Andean scenery, including snow-capped peaks, flowing mountain streams, and native highland vegetation.
By early afternoon, we arrive at Soraypampa (3,800 m / 12,467 ft) and settle into our exclusive Domes Camp, featuring private bathrooms, hot showers, and panoramic views of Salkantay and Humantay Mountains. Our staff welcomes you with a delicious lunch, followed by free time to relax, explore the surroundings, or simply enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere.
We wake up around 5:00 a.m. and enjoy breakfast before beginning the highlight of the trek: the ascent to Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,779 ft). The trail gradually climbs through rocky paths and alpine valleys, offering stunning views of towering Andean mountains.
Upon reaching the lake, you’ll be rewarded with the unforgettable sight of its brilliant turquoise waters, considered a sacred site by the Inca civilization. Take time to relax, take photos, and absorb the powerful energy of this extraordinary natural setting.
After enjoying the lake, we descend back to Soraypampa, passing glacial landscapes and unique rock formations. At the Domes Camp, we enjoy a well-deserved lunch before boarding our private transport for the return journey to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.
