Our adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. We travel comfortably by private bus to explore the Funerary Towers (Chullpas) of Ninamarca, located at 3,750 meters above sea level. Next, we make a short stop at Paucartambo, a charming town known for its colonial bridge and rich folklore.
From Paucartambo, we ascend to Acjanaco at 4,000 meters, the gateway to Manu National Park. From here, we descend through the mystical cloud forest, home to diverse flora including orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns. Birdwatchers will delight in spotting the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola peruvian), trogons, quetzals, and, with luck, the elusive spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus).In the afternoon, we arrive at Pilcopata, located at 550 meters above sea level. Our traditional lodge offers private bathrooms and showers for a comfortable stay.
After breakfast, we continue our journey by bus to Atalaya (490 meters above sea level). Here, we board a boat to reach Paititi Lodge, located in the heart of Manu’s cultural zone. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to spot wildlife including monkeys, birds, and other jungle animals.
After lunch at the lodge, we head to Cocha Machuwasi, where a catamaran ride allows us to observe exotic birds like the Hoatzin (Shansho), dwarf caimans, reptiles, and insects. Capybaras are often seen along the riverbanks.
In the evening, an optional Night Trekking adventure offers a chance to experience the jungle after dark. Return to the lodge for a comfortable night with private bathrooms and showers.
Early in the morning, we visit the green parrot clay lick (Collpa), where multiple species of parrots gather to feed on mineral-rich clay—a truly spectacular wildlife experience.
Afterward, we hike through the lush Amazon jungle to admire a giant tree, spotting more wildlife including monkeys, reptiles, insects, and exotic birds along the way. Afternoon lunch is served back at the lodge, followed by optional night walks to discover the jungle in a completely different atmosphere.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Paititi Lodge and embark on a boat trip back to Atalaya, enjoying the serene rivers and jungle scenery one last time. From Atalaya, our private bus returns us to Cusco, retracing our route through the enchanting cloud forest.
We expect to arrive in Cusco between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., concluding an unforgettable 4-day adventure in the Manu National Park and Cultural Zone.
